Here’s something they should enact in our Congress. At least one Senator who can’t drive sober, but can swim would be caught by this system.
With some of the crazy laws some of the politicians have been passing lately maybe we should force our Congress members to take a breathalyzer before voting. Did we really need arrowheads for children included in the financial bailout??
Maybe breathalyzers would stop some of the silly pork votes in Congress... probably not. (courtesy: wikipedia.com)
It sounds like a crazy idea, but it’s exactly what they are proposing in New South Wales, Australia (didn’t we just do a story about “glassings” in this state??). Conservative Andrew Fraser resigned from his opposition frontbench after shoving another female Nationals colleague, Katrina Hodgkinson, who tried to intervene in a heated exchange with a third statesman.
No one asked Fraser if he had been drinking earlier, but he had attended a NSW Farmers' Federation Christmas party earlier in the evening.
 The pusher and the push-ee
The public is calling for breathalyzers and several parties in the parliament back the proposal.
"Honestly, if you are going to have breathalyzers for people driving cranes you should have breathalyzers for people writing laws," says Green MPs John Kaye. I can’t agree more!(Source: Reuters) Related Articles |
