Here are the top Digg stories about beer this year.  Most surprising, none of my articles are on the list!?  DISAPPOINTED!

I was looking at Digg to see what made a beer article successful.  To do so, I searched for the top beer articles on Digg.

I created this list by looking only at the number of Diggs each story received.  To make the list, the article had to have something to do with beer and the story had to be dugg this year.  Each story has the number of Diggs at the time of writing.  The first story was a real story which deserves the recognition it received.  The rest… well you can be the judge.

Searching for beer articles dugg this year takes longer than you'd think!

2338 Diggs - Microbrews Run Dry On Hops, Sam Adams Offers Tons To Help

At the beginning of the year, the hop situation looked very grim.  Many brewers were struggling to find hops for their beers, and for homebrewers the situation looked even worse.  Just when everyone was ready to give up and switch to cheap tequila, Samuel Adams came to the rescue.

1703 Diggs - The Wrong Guy to Send On a Beer Run

There is weird and then there is just weird.  This video goes a bit beyond even that.  A 17-year-old kid goes on a beer run for himself with very bizarre results.  Reminds me of Ken in Real Genius!

1668 Diggs - How To Clean a Beer Spill [PIC]

Everyone has seen the very sad picture of Grolsch bottles shattered all over the road.  Here’s one man’s solution for the bottles which didn’t break!

1589 Diggs - How to Chill a Beer in 3 Minutes [It works people]

If you haven’t heard adding salt to ice water makes it colder, now you know.  More surprising the author of the article doesn’t even know why adding salt works, but the article was a success anyway.  For those of you curious, adding salt to water lowers the freezing/melting point of water.  A 10% brine solution melts at 20 F.  The lower temperature cools the beer quicker.  If you doubt the physics, the "[It works people]" in the title should leave no doubt for you. LOL

1513 Diggs - Iron Man Suit Is Beer Belly Ready

This one is a stretch (ha ha).  It has beer in the title and is beer related (barely).  Can you believe this tubby superhero received so many diggs?!?

1466 Diggs - 5 Unusual Beers (that you gotta try!)

This is the first article with a marginal amount of substance.  Here are five somewhat surprising beers.  I’ve heard of all five beers on the list before.

1445 Diggs - How To Open a Beer Without an Opener

Here are 10 ways to open a beer bottle without a beer opener.  A few of the methods include YouTube demonstrations, but the bikini girl is notably missing.

1359 Diggs - Beer Truck Crashes And People Steal All The Beer

I’m not sure if this is funny, or a disturbing statement on people.  I wrote about this happening in a poor country last year, but these are people who can afford the beer.

1347 Diggs - Woman Puts Seatbelt on Beer, Forgets About Baby

I saw this when it happened and considered making it a Beer Nut! article.  I decided against it, because it really wasn’t funny.  I guess 1347 people disagree with me.

1325 Diggs – Beer 101

This has to be the all-time shortest description of the different beer styles.  If you’re serious about learning the different beer styles and their characteristics, I recommend looking at BJCP style guidelines.  Or even my easy to look at beer chart.  There are more than seven types of beers.  The most shocking bit about this article is it is the second Men's Fitness article on beer in this list?!?!
