The label for Smoking Loon is very unique, but how is the wine?

Smoking Loon is definitely one of the most interesting labels pasted across a wine bottle.  The label hints of being traditional, but a closer inspection reveals a much more fun label.  The description will leave you saying "what the %$??!!".  It describes a smoking loon that gets the job done, and disappears.  The synthetic cork is also fun, describing what a smoking loon might sound like.  If you were looking at the label for a description of the wine, well, you will just be confused.

The color to the wine was a dark clear ruby red.  There was little nose to the wine.  The wine itself is very smooth, with very little alcoholic burn.  The taste is fruity, a bit jammy, and slightly oaked.  Overall the wine was good, but not special.  It makes an excellent table wine to serve with dinner or enjoy with friends, but only the label will make it a topic of conversation.

As the label describes, it gets the job done and leaves.

The wine has won one award listed on their web site, the California State Fair Silver medal in 2006.

We give it 7 smoking loons out of ten.
