Schloss Lieser Riesling 2003

Schloss Lieser Riesling 2003

I was visiting a very nice wine store called Tenacity Wine Shop in Longmont, Colorado, when I stumbled upon this wine.  The German Riesling wine was about $15 USD.  I picked it because it was one of the few Riesling offerings that was actually from Germany.

The color of the wine is a very light straw color.  The wine is very clear and almost sparkles.  The aromas of the wine are very fruity, like pineapple or grapefruit.

The flavor of this wine was quite a surprise.  It is very light and sweet, just short of being a dessert wine.  If you do not like sweet wines, then this wine is not for you.  It’s not sweet like an ice wine; it is sweet more like Asti Spumante.  This wine would go great with a light salad or fruit.  The mouth feel is like a light honey wine.  The Riesling is only about 9% alcohol, so it makes a great summer wine.

I highly recommend this wine if you like light sweet wine, and give it 10 out of 10.

Price: $14.99 USD
Origin: Germany
Year: 2003
ABV: 10%

I live in Denver, Colorado. This blog is everything about beer, wine, cider, mead and other spirits.
I am a avid homebrewer and winemaker. I’ve been making my own beer and wine for many years. I started making beer when I was in college (mostly because the drinking age in the United States is 21). My first few beers were horrible. The beers are much better now, and I often supply my neighborhood with free beer! It is a great hobby!
